The Libby soccer team came in clutch during the second half against Hamilton, scoring the only two goals of the game to secure its first road game of the season.

“Hamilton has a young team this year. They had 10 freshman this season,” Libby head coach Mark Petersen said. “Our senior core kept the momentum in our favor.”

Senior midfielder Cody Wood snapped the tie in the 52th minute with an unassisted shot to draw first blood for the Loggers. His ball found the net again 26 minutes later with an assist from Sebastian “Sebo” Sanders to finish the Broncs off 2-nil.

Libby finished the friendly with six shots on goal, seven fouls, three corner kicks and four saves by junior Logger keeper Ryan Nagle. Hamilton concluded the contest with four shots on goal, eight fouls, three corner kicks and four saves.

The Loggers are now 2-1-1, each friendlies before the conference season begins this week. The boys head to Hamilton this week to face Polson in the first conference match of the year.

Girls’ soccer crushed in Hamilton

Hamilton blanked the Lady Loggers on Saturday with plenty of ball movement, as the Lady Broncs cruised to a 9-0 victory at home.

Libby managed just five shots on goal against Hamilton’s 20.

The Lady Loggers will look for their first win against the Lady Pirates this Thursday in Polson.
