Peacock top freshman at Flathead Invite

Columbia Falls freshman Kimberly Peacock clocked a 19:42.57 on a challenging course at Rebecca Farm to place 12th overall at the Flathead Invitational on Friday in Kalispell.

Her time lifted the Kats to a seventh place finish against a competitive field featuring some of the state’s top Class AA and A runners. The 3-mile course was considered a preview of the state championship meet, which will be run at Rebecca Farm on Oct. 22.

Wildkat runner Raina Crowell crossed at 21:19.65 to place 36th on the day, and Megann Hanson finished at 22:11.78 to crack the top 50.

Glacier’s Annie Hill clocked a 17:15.54 to coast to a win.

The Wildcat boys also placed seventh in team scoring. Sage Wanner kept pace with the lead pack, finishing fifth at 16:05.57. His time was the top finish among all Class A runners.

Columbia Falls runner Gabe Knudsen crossed at 17:14.67 for 30th overall, and Winfield West took 56th at 18:13.54.
