Lois Ann (Platt) Kuykendall, 81, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sept. 13, 2016, at Hospice House of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene.

Lois was born on Jan. 14, 1935, in Spokane, Wash., to Edward “Tom” and Ann Platt. They were living in Lapwai, Idaho, at the time. They later moved to Kendrick, Idaho, where Lois attended school and was the valedictorian of the class of 1953.

Lois was working at the Kendrick bakery where she met Richard “Dick” Kuykendall. They were married on Aug. 7, 1953, in Lewiston, Idaho. In October 1953, they moved to Coeur d’Alene, where she lovingly cared for their home and raised five children. She was active with the Boy Scouts and Camp Fire organizations and was a 37-year member of the Tops No. 164 Club. She enjoyed making quilts, camping, traveling and she loved her roses.

Lois is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dick; son Dale and daughter-in-law Carrie Thiele of Spokane; daughter Debbie of Spokane; son Duane “Butch” and daughter-in-law Sandy of Spirit Lake; son David and daughter-in-law Carrie of Oregon City, Ore.; son Jay and daughter-in-law Heather of Molalla, Ore.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Theodore and her parents.
