June Evelyn Giesey, 87, passed away Sept. 11, 2016, at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond in Belmond, Iowa, where she had relocated from Kalispell in 2014.
June Evelyn was born June 19, 1929, in Whitefish, to William and Anna Greenland. She lived in the country with her nine brothers and sisters and was educated in a nearby country school. In her late teens, she moved to Kalispell and worked as a live-in caretaker for a local physician’s family and his wife. She attended First Presbyterian Church in Kalispell. June later invited her family to church, and together seventeen “made decisions to follow Christ Jesus” in one day. This is where she also met her loving and faithful husband, Roscoe Ray Giesey.
On March 18, 1951, she was married to Roscoe. To this union, two daughters, Ruth and Mary, were born. In March 2011 the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before Roscoe’s passing the following October.
June loved to sew and make clothes, quilts, and baby quilts for the extended family. She crocheted, enjoyed many crafts and was an excellent cook and homemaker. She was especially known for her homemade rolls, huckleberry pie and baked goods. She loved to share with neighbors and friends and baked communion bread for church every month for many years. She will be fondly remembered for her sweet smile, hospitality, and her blunt and honest responses. June was active in Bethel Baptist Church and she “loved the Lord first and foremost. Her family continues to benefit from her and Roscoe’s prayers for them all and the faith they passed down.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Roscoe; five brothers, Henry, Loren, Merle, Wilbur, and Delbert; three sisters, Velma, Vera, and Floy; and twin granddaughters, Andrea Grace and Nicole June Falk.
June is survived by one sister, Della (Alex) Tom of Washington state; two daughters, Ruth (Leonard) Falk of Kalispell, and Mary (Marvin) Goemaat of Belmond, Iowa; grandsons, William Falk of Kalispell, Justin (Brittany) Goemaat and Dan (Sara) Goemaat of Belmond, Iowa; great-grandson, Wyatt Goemaat of Belmond, Iowa; two more great-grandchildren in Iowa whose births she was anxiously awaiting; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be held in Belmond, Iowa. The family requests cards and condolences only. Wishes for the Goemaat Family may be sent to the family c/o Dugger Funeral Home, PO Box 233 in Belmond, Iowa, 50421. Wishes for the Falk Family may be sent to P.O. Box 10243, Kalispell, Montana, 59904.
