I thank Bob Brown for his recent comments about Donald Trump and the danger to our country Mr. Trump would represent if he ever became president.

Bob Brown is a pillar of the Montana Republican Party, having spent years in the Legislature, where he became a respected leader. He also served as secretary of state, and ran (unsuccessfully) for governor. I have known Bob for decades and although I’m not a Republican, have voted for him from time to time because I know him to be honest, intelligent, a student of government, and a bastion of integrity.

In his opinion piece in the Inter Lake, Bob accurately summed up the glaring negative aspects of Trump’s character, as well as his lack of qualifications for the presidency. And I agree with him on every point (except that I’d be tempted to describe Mr. Trump as a boor and a demagogue).

I do not understand how thoughtful people can possibly contemplate installing Trump as president of the United States and leader of the free world. Granted, our government needs improvement, but do voters really think Mr. Trump can fix things just by declaring that he will do so, with his ever-changing, non-specific “plans”? Do they think that aiming childish insults at his detractors will endear him to Congress and the rest of the world?

Thanks, Bob. I hope you changed some minds.

Ego, not 'swamp critters,' is Trump's big problem

As one of the majority of Americans who did not vote for Donald Trump for president, I am offended by Mark Agather’s characterization in the Daily Inter Lake of people like me as “swamp critters” and “spoiled children” who have refused to shut up and go away after the election.
