A Cellular Sales store from Verizon Wireless will replace what has been several restaurants in the building being reconstructed on the northwest corner of Appleway and Fourth.

It will be the company’s first Idaho location with the nearest in Kennewick, Wash. Headquartered in Knoxville, Tenn., the company has 560 stores in 30 states.

New office building at Lakeside-Eighth

A 3,750-square-foot office building for one to four tenants (about 945 square feet each) is under construction on the southwest corner of Lakeside Avenue and Eighth Street downtown.

A quiet, stout, energy-efficient building will result from the construction process using ICF (insulated concrete form) blocks stacked to make the walls of the place, said spokesman Robert Provost. The walls are then filled with 6 inches of concrete insulated by the foam blocks and serve as attachment points for the siding and drywall.

Custom Den opens in Riverstone

Engraving services and products are the specialty of Custom Den now open at 2035 Beebe Blvd. in Riverstone.

Gary Everson, part-owner of the former Everson Jewelry downtown, and his son, Brent, continue the family tradition of engraving that was in the basement of the downtown building. A new laser system has been added to the processes.

Their products include trophies, plaques, medals, acrylics, crystal, clocks, key chains, pens, mugs, cutting boards and personalized baby and wedding gifts.

Gunder Construction plans major move

A major renovation of an existing building at 1525 Northwest Blvd. will become the new place next spring for Gunder Construction, now a few blocks north at 1025 W. Lacrosse Ave.

The 20-year-old company specializes in custom construction, light commercial, project management and development with 90 percent of its projects waterfront and private golf club builds.

- Hopefully, the second-story facade being added to the new Verizon store at Appleway-Fourth won’t have one of those blaring-blinking advertisements that distract drivers.

- In writing, nicknames written behind first names (such as Henry “Scoop” Jackson) should be in quote marks unless that’s how the person is known, such as sports figures Babe Ruth and Tiger Woods.
