Jimmy Grant was the top finisher at the Two Bear Marathon Sunday coming in well below the three-hour mark in the mens full marathon.
Grant of Missoula clocked a time of 2:51:34.91. The 38-year-old came in 22 minutes faster than last year’s top finisher for men.
Jenny Wolf of Bozeman earned first place in the womens full marathon with a time of 3:37:49.36.
The full marathon starts at the Lion Mountain trailhead of the Whitefish Trail. The first 15 miles follow the trail and dirt roads, passing Beaver Lake, Murray Lake, Woods Lake and Thornberg Lake. The remainder of the course is paved following the north and east shores of Whitefish Lake, and finishing at The Wave.
Leading Whitefish runners in the full marathon were Becky Middleton and Caleb Deitz. Middleton earned a fourth place finish in the women’s full marathon with a time of 4:15:06.88. Deitz took third place on the men’s side with a time of 3:18:39.81.
The half marathon was lead by Jessica Johnson of Bigfork with a time of 1:31:16.39 for the women and Tyler Wells of Kalispell took first for the men with a time of 1:32:51.24.
There were 26 women and 41 men who competed in the full marathon. There were 111 women and 50 men in the half marathon.
The Two Bear is a fundraiser for The Wave scholarship fund.
