The deadline for schools and nonprofits to apply for an education grant from the Coeur d’Alene Tribe is fast-approaching.

The last day to submit an application is Sept. 30. Applications are available online at http://bit.ly/2cD1tcR.

Applications may be returned by email to [email protected], by fax to (208) 686-8813, or by mail to: Chairman’s Office, ATTN: Education Donations, PO Box 408, Plummer, ID 83851.

The Tribe will screen applications this fall and expects to make funding announcements in the spring of 2017.

The Tribe committed to donating to education in 1992 when tribal leadership offered to return 5 percent of net gaming revenues to the financial support of education as part of its gaming compact with the state. Since then, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe has donated more than $24 million to education.

In the Tribe’s most recent round of donations, more than 100 schools and nonprofits across the region received funding for a wide range of programs including technology upgrades, textbooks, classroom supplies, and student scholarships. In addition, a significant number of donations went toward reading, music, arts, science and vocational programs.

“An investment in education is an investment in our future,” said Chief Allan, chairman of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. “This is our way of giving back to our neighbors and our community. We are proud to have such a strong history of supporting education within our community and our state,” he added.

Any questions regarding the Tribe’s education donations should be directed to the Tribe’s public relations director, Heather Keen, at (208) 686-2023 or [email protected].
