BOUNDARY COUNTY — Badger volleyball team has been led by Kendra Maas for the past three years. The start of this season beginning of her 16th year of coaching volleyball, the fifth total year for Bonners Ferry High School.

As with other sports, the goal for Maas is to take her team to state.

“I thrive to make each girl reach their potential and exceed in that,” stated Maas.

For the Badger volleyball girls, their biggest obstacle this year is to overcome themselves. According to Maas, the girls focus on “not making a mistake while everyone is watching.”

“You play for the love of the game. Volleyball is a game of mistakes and the team that makes less mistakes come out on top. It’s not the score of the ame that people are going to remember, it is how well you played,” said Maas.

According to Maas, the greatest asset is the coaching staff, Amy Lane, JV1 and Marcia Leonard, JV2, administration, parents and fan support. All the dedication from the players and most of all the love and support of Maas’ family help her support her team.

The projected offense is to run a quick offense and defense is volleyball is never the same. Depending upon the team they are playing, depends upon what defense they will run.
