Spikers remain undefeated

The Columbia Falls girls volleyball team remains undefeated in Northwest A action with a sweep over Polson last week, 25-15, 25-14, 25-11.

Morgan Stenger and Kiara Burlage led the Kats with 11 kills apiece. As a team, the girls racked up 38 kills. Stenger also had four blocks. Cydney Finberg led the squad with 28 of the team’s 32 assists.

It was the only match of the week for the Kats.

They travel to Frenchtown Thursday.

Kills – Columbia Falls 38 (Morgan Stenger 11, Kiara Burlage 11), Polson 15 (Haley Fyant 6). Blocks – Columbia Falls 6 (Stenger 4), Polson 4 (Hannah Fryberger 2). Digs – Columbia Falls 22 (Three with five), Polson 10 (Kyler Lundeen 7). Assists – Columbia Falls 32 (Cydney Finberg 28), Polson N/A. Aces – Columbia Falls 10 (Kaitlyn Casazza 6), Polson 4 (Fyant 2).

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
