COEUR d’ALENE — Abbie Ellison scored a pair of first half goals as the Coeur d’Alene Vikings beat the Lakeland Hawks 3-1 in a nonleague match at Coeur d’Alene High on Thursday.
“I couldn’t have been prouder of the girls today,” Coeur d’Alene coach Andy Vredenburg said. “I think we learned a lot from this match. We got down early and they fought back to end up winning. Abbie really played well and worked hard. I couldn’t have been prouder of all the girls out there today. They played with a lot of heart.”
Sophia Schnepf scored in the eighth minute for Lakeland (4-6-1), which plays at Lake City on Saturday.
Maggie Vietri scored in the 65th minute for Coeur d’Alene (5-1-1), which hosts Mead of Spokane on Saturday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Ceci McAfee had two goals and an assist as the Panthers defeated the visiting Wildcats in Intermountain League play at Community United Methodist Church.
Mia Maldonado scored two goals, and Brooklyn Cunningham and Cali Shipman each had a goal and two assists for Coeur d’Alene Charter, which plays host to Rogers on Saturday.
Kellogg plays at the Lake City junior varsity on Tuesday.

ST. MARIES — Lexi Medina scored an unassisted goal in the 60th minute for the Timberwolves junior varsity in a win over the Lumberjacks at City Park.
“They’re a great team, but I thought our defense played well and were aggressive,” St. Maries coach Brad Groce said. “I’m happy with how we played. We’re continuing to get better.”
St. Maries (1-7-2) hosts Timberlake on Tuesday.

RATHDRUM — The Vikings and Hawks played to a nonleague draw at Sunrise Rotary Field.
“We haven’t had a lot of results, so I was really happy with how our kids played,” first-year Lakeland coach Dylan Steigemeier said. “We had some quality chances at the net and could have easily came away with a win. Coeur d’Alene is a good team and they’ve have away with some good results. It was good for us to play a quality team like that.”
Shawn McKeeken had four saves for Coeur d’Alene (5-0-4), which hosts Moscow on Tuesday.
Max Baker had three saves for Lakeland (1-7-2), which hosts Lake City on Saturday.

“I thought we played very well tonight,” St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. “We had our chances and the kids played all right. It’s tough to go from 2A to 5A, but the kids battled tonight.”
St. Maries (4-4-2) hosts Grangeville on Saturday.
