Library fundraiser
The West Shore Community Library’s “21 Times Around the Sun” fundraiser starts at 6 p.m. today at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kalispell.
The evening features dinner and dancing, an auction of a wide variety of adventures — from sailing on Chesapeake Bay to four days and three nights in Abu Dhabi — along with arts and crafts, book gift baskets and more.

Karate clinics
The International Shotokan Karate Federation of Montana celebrates its 25th anniversary with clinics this weekend conducted by karate Master Yutaka Yaguchi, chief instructor of the Federation’s Mountain States Region, who is retiring later this year. Many high-ranking karate instructors and their students from throughout the Western states and Canada are expected to attend.
Yaguchi is a ninth-degree black belt and has produced many champion competitors in both the United States and Japan.
The public is invited to observe the clinics today and Saturday at ISKF of Montana, 1500 Airport Road, Kalispell. Clinics get under way at 5:15 p.m. today and run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Visit www.iskfofmt.com, for information and a schedule of events.
Garage sale
United Methodist Church at 301 16th Ave. E. in Polson, is having a multi-family garage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The sale includes household goods, birdhouses and much more. Coffee and cinnamon rolls will be available for purchase.

Rummage sale
Flathead Lutherans for Life have their annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, 405 Liberty St. in Kalispell. Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.
Proceeds from the sale benefit Hope Pregnancy Ministries and other projects. Call 756-8344 for more information.
Quilt show
The Flathead Quilters Guild hosts its 34th annual Quilt Show from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Flathead County Fairgrounds in Kalispell.
Art and traditional quilts will be featured along with demonstrations and vendors. Featured quilter is Brian Dykhuizen.
Admission is $5 with a portion of net proceeds supporting local charities. Parking is free.
Harvest Dinner
The Flathead Democrats host their 2016 Harvest Dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Armory, 545 Armory Road in Whitefish. Guest speakers are candidates Melissa Romano and Larry Jent.
The evening includes a catered dinner, homemade desserts, no-host bar, raffles, a farmers market and pie auction.

Love INC.
Love INC. (In the Name of Christ) hosts a potato bar and informational meeting about the organization’s work with local churches to provide services to the needy at 4 p.m. Saturday at The Coop, 830 First Ave. W. in Columbia Falls. Christian music will be provided by the Rev. Ken Ainsworth.
Tickets are available at the door for $7 adults, and $5 children.
Legion meeting
The American Legion Post No. 72 in Columbia Falls hosts the fall meeting of District No. 4 on Saturday at the Cedar Creek Lodge, 930 Second Ave W., in Columbia Falls.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. A joint banquet begins at noon with Department Vice Commander Larry Dobb of Great Falls as guest speaker.
The Legion business meeting begins at 1:10 p.m. conducted by Comm. Jack Fay of Ronan. District President Mary Beth Stroklund of Libby will conduct the Auxiliary meeting.
Rescued kittens
The Flathead Spay and Neuter Task Force offers rescued kittens ranging in age from 12 weeks to 8 months for adoption for a small fee from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the lobby of the Holiday Inn Express (behind Lowe’s) in Kalispell.
These felines are “fixed,” vaccinated and microchipped. They also are litter-box-trained and use scratching posts and almost all are comfortable with cat-savvy pets and older children. Anyone interested in adopting should bring a pet carrier. For additional information, call 871-2388.
Bowling fun
Special Olympics Montana-Glacier Area hosts a regional bowling tournament from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Pin & Cue, 6570 U.S. 93, S., in Whitefish.
Spectators are welcome. To volunteer, call Karen Kimball, 250-8481.
The Pin & Cue will have some lanes available to the public beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday. Most lanes will be open to the public after 2 p.m.

Park volunteers
Volunteer from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Wayfarers State Park on Flathead Lake in Bigfork in celebration of National Public Lands Day.
Volunteers will remove invasive weeds, cut back branches and improve trails. Bring a pair of work gloves and wear work clothes.

Fundraiser
A fundraising event for 5-year-old Rylan Russell-Perry takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 1820 U.S. 93 S. in Kalispell.
Rylan, son of Jarrett and Vallissa Perry of Columbia Falls, was diagnosed at age 2 with a rare cancer and is in his third chemotherapy treatment at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane.
The fundraiser includes a pig roast feed and live and silent auctions. All money raised will go directly to Rylan’s family to help with expenses.

Benefit sale
The Whitefish Soroptimist Thrift Haus will donate 100 percent of its proceeds from store sales today and Saturday to Doctors Without Borders and the International Rescue Committee.
The sale is a tribute to the many years Sam and Ruth Neff of Whitefish have held yard sales to raise money for these humanitarian organizations.
The Thrift Haus is located at 303 First St. in Whitefish. Store hours are noon to 5 p.m. today and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Oktoberfest
Bigfork’s St. Pope John Paul II Catholic Church Knights of Columbus annual Oktoberfest takes place from 11:45 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the church’s Brady Hall, 195 Coverdell Road (just north of Bigfork off Montana 35).
The Bavarian Echoes Polka Band will provide music. Grilled bratwurst, hot dogs, homemade German potato salad, sauerkraut and chocolate cake, along with German beer and wine, will be available and a silent auction and raffle for a side of beef will be held.
Tickets are $12 for adults or $5 for children 5 and over and can be purchased at the door or from the parish office. Children under 5 are admitted free. Proceeds support charitable needs in the Flathead Valley.
