ST. MARIES — Jumping on the touchdown train early and often, senior wideout Jake Sieler scored three touchdowns on offense and tacked on another with a 65-yard interception return, powering the 2A St. Maries Lumberjacks to a 47-7 victory over the 3A Timberlake Tigers in nonleague play Friday night.
Sieler scored on pass receptions of 24, 89 and 6 yards from quarterback Kiefer Gibson, who passed for 260 yards on 8 for 11 passing with four touchdowns.
Sieler struck first on a post route for St. Maries’ first touchdown early in the first quarter. Timberlake running back Will McLemore ran for Timberlake’s lone touchdown in the first quarter, making it 7-7, but St. Maries took command from that point on, with 40 consecutive points.
“They were really on the same page tonight,” St. Maries coach Craig Tefft said of Sieler and Gibson. “I’m real proud of the kids, we had a really strong half. We really did a good job setting the tone early and getting the lead. Timberlake’s a good team. I was expecting a real close type of game. We were able to make some plays.”
Patrick Asbury, Brady Martin, Dylan Edwards and Sieler each had an interception for the Lumberjacks (5-0). Timberlake running back Caleb Munson rushed for 61 yards on 16 carries and had 36 receiving on three receptions.
It was St. Maries’ first victory over Timberlake since 2000, and was the first time the teams met since 2011, when both were in the Intermountain League.
Both teams play nonleague games next Friday. St. Maries hosts Bonners Ferry, while Timberlake (0-5) hosts Lakeland.

SPOKANE VALLEY — Two long TD receptions by East Valley standout Rodrick Jackson and three second-half turnovers were too much for Lake City to overcome, as the Timberwolves lost to the Knights in nonleague play.
Just before intermission, East Valley backup QB Christian Johnston hit Jackson in stride on a 62-yard post route, putting the Knights (2-2) ahead 20-10.
Lake City (2-3) came storming out of halftime, with three runs by Grant Clark covering 71 yards. The third of those, a 1-yard touchdown carry, pulled the T-Wolves within 20-18 after a two-point conversion run by Bryce Buttz one minute into the third quarter.
The visitors’ momentum was short-lived. After a botched kickoff return put the Knights at their own 1-yard-line, quarterback Dillon Smith found Jackson up the left sideline and he outran the Lake City defense for a 99-yard score.
Two plays later, cornerback Aledre Bracy stepped in front of Buttz’s pass in the right flat and raced up the sideline for a 65-yard interception return to give East Valley a 33-18 lead and command of the game.
Clark finished with 151 yards rushing and 36 yards receiving for the Timberwolves, while Buttz threw for 166 yards, including a fourth-quarter touchdown to Connor Watkins.
Chase Moyer had an early fumble recovery for Lake City, leading to the first score of the game, a 2-yard TD run by Zane Lettau.
Jackson finished with 202 yards receiving for the Knights, who outgained Lake City 418 yards to 387.
Lake City plays host to Sandpoint next Friday.

HARRISON FLATS — Tanner Anderson rushed for 128 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns, Dylan Wright busted loose for an 80-yard touchdown on a kickoff return in the first quarter, and the Warriors beat the Knights in a White Star League game.

We came out and got that score in the third quarter and the rain was coming down pretty good into the fourth quarter. We had a great, sustained drive that chewed off six minutes off the clock to go up 28-12 with 5:30 left and came away with a defensive stop at the end and grinded out the whole fourth quarter on the ground.”

Alex Pakootas and Bishop Fisher each scored rushing TDs for Lakeside (1-3, 1-2).
