A 30-year-old Bigfork woman was seriously injured Thursday night in a crash just before 9 p.m. on Somers Road. According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper David Mills the woman was traveling southbound when she failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway and hit a gate for a waterfowl production area. The gate was uprooted. The vehicle then hit a guy-wire to a power pole, which caused the vehicle to roll.
“She was not wearing her seatbelt so she ended up in the third row of her Pacifica,” Mills said.
Somers-Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department was having a meeting at a nearby location and was able to respond quickly, Mills said.
The woman was unconscious when responders arrived. She was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with serious injuries and was listed as in stable condition, Mills said.
Mills said in addition to the seat belt violation, alcohol and/or drugs are suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
