Don Beamis, 77, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Bingham Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 4, 1938, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Harvey W. Beamis and Regenia Sanford Beamis.
He was raised in North Idaho where he received his education. On Jan. 25, 1974, he married Carol Washburn Sly in Coeur d’Alene. They moved to Blackfoot in 1974.
He was the owner of Beamis Construction. He was also involved in mining.
Don belonged to the Lake Coeur d’Alene Angeler’s Association and Lake Pend Oreille Fishing Association. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Beamis of Blackfoot; mother Regenia Carpenter of Moses Lake, Wash.; children, Bob (Nancy) Beamis of Hayden, Idaho, Debrah (Clarence) Chesley of Casper, Wyo., Don (Cindy) Beamis Jr. of Pocatello, Idaho, LeAnn (Phil) Zidek of Roseville, Calif., and Linda (Scott) Fitch of Yorba Linda, Calif.; siblings Dolores Burnham of Moses Lake, Mary Keener of Spokane, Wash., and Paul Beamis of St. Regis, Mont.; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey W. Beamis and his stepmother, Elsie Beamis.
The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Sept. 25, 2016, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot. Then again from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at Rose Lake Cemetery in Rose Lake, Idaho.
