A Kalispell man has admitted threatening other people with a gun on July 6.
Before Flathead District Court Judge Robert Allison on Thursday, Thomas James “TJ” Sorkness Jr., 22, pleaded guilty to felony assault with a weapon.
Sorkness testified that he was high on methamphetamine and armed the night he went looking for a woman.
“I was in a state of mind where I don’t remember everything that happened,” Sorkness said.
Sorkness said he believes he pointed two guns at people. He testified that he understood that being high at the time of the incident does not provide a legal excuse for his actions.
Sorkness was released on his own recognizance with monitoring by a drug patch.
“I’ve come to refer to people who successfully complete the drug patch as unicorns because they are so rare,” Allison said.
He warned Sorkness against having any violations of conditions of release.
Sorkness is set to be sentenced on Nov. 10.
