The Libby Loggers suffered their worst loss of the season last week at home against Eureka, but look to rebound on Friday with a Homecoming game with Troy. 

On Sept. 23, the Loggers (0-5) found themselves down 20-0 after two fumbles and a botched punt gave the visitors good field position that they capitalized on.

Libby got on the scoreboard with 3:23 remaining in the opening frame when Laine Young scored on a 20-yard run. The junior running back ran up the middle and darted outside and was untouched on his way to the end zone.

However, Jacob Nowakowski’s 82-yard kickoff return took the wind out of Libby’s sails.

The Tigers scored three more times before the half to lead 47-6 at the intermission, and won going away, 67-6.

“Eureka (4-1) is a very good football team,” Libby High’s head coach Neil Fuller said following the game. “We’re not good enough to overcome any mistakes.”

Although he acknowledged that his team has a “few injuries,” Fuller said that Friday’s Homecoming with Troy “should be a good game.”

Troy falls to Florence

Troy (0-4) lost at Florence on Saturday, 54-8.

The Falcons (2-2) returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the first quarter and led 47-0 at halftime.

Troy’s lone score came in the fourth quarter on a 52-yard pass from Tucker Winn to Zach Cotten. The pair also connected for a 2-point conversion.

Libby will face Troy on Friday in the Homecoming matchup, set for 7 p.m. at Logger Stadium.
