Doctor's order: Andrus cancels Cd'A appearances

Former four-term Idaho governor and Interior Secretary Cecil D. Andrus, on the orders of his doctor, has canceled a trip to Coeur d’Alene on Thursday. Andrus was scheduled to introduce another former Interior secretary, former Arizona Gov. Bruce Babbitt.
Gov. Babbitt is the featured speaker at an Idaho Conservation League dinner honoring one of the founders of Idaho’s leading conservation organization, the late Scott Reed.
In a brief statement sent to Idaho media, Andrus spokesperson Chris Carlson, the former governor’s long-time press secretary, said, “Gov. Andrus has been ordered by his doctor not to travel or make any public appearances while being treated for some medical complications resulting from some successful radiation treatments the governor underwent earlier this year.”
Carlson added, “The 85-year-old governor has faced and so far successfully managed several serious health challenges encountered by people as they age. He knows and appreciates the best wishes of many Idahoans and regrets any inconvenience this cancellation may have caused but he intends to follow the doctor’s orders.”
