ELECTION: History's stark lesson
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 years, 3 months AGO
Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany because the German people wanted change. He vowed to put people back to work, rid Germany of the Jews and Slavs, create a vast and powerful military and make Germany great again. Hitler did this and much more. Using threats in his campaign, he went to small towns to gain the support of the uneducated. He led protest marches, organized mass meetings and delivered speeches all over Germany.
Once elected, he wanted complete control. He destroyed their constitution, he abolished the free press; basic civil rights and human rights could not exist. Children 14 years and older were forced to join Hitler Youth, where they were brainwashed with Nazi beliefs. His military overran Poland, Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands, and other countries. While Hitler’s empire lasted, he directed the slaughter of six million Jews and more than three million Soviet prisoners who were starved and worked to death.
Webster’s Dictionary defines fascism as a system of government in which a dictator and single party have complete control over everything and stay in power by taking away the rights of the people.
Don’t be naïve as to think one person can find work for you. Being in the age of advanced technology, computers, and robots you cannot shift gears and return to the 1950s and 1960s. As the editor stated, good education is imperative for the job market in the 21st century.
