Prep football with a royal touch
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 9 years, 2 months AGO
Homecoming is a rite of passage as well as a celebration of school spirit and a new school year ... oh, and there’s a football game, too. Last week Lakeland High School crowned Jordan Plonka and Heidi Boyer as its king and queen and Coeur d’Alene High School did the same with Joey Naccarato and Sienna Sanchez.
On Friday Lake City High School will do the honors from among the school’s senior class homecoming court of Rusty Dan, Beau Chandler, Matt Duchow, Madeline Hennig, Hailey Czapala and Havana Johnson. Underclassman court is freshman royalty; Carson Dowell and Kaylee Wyatt; sophomores Conner Conigliaro and Keaunna Cleave; and juniors Kodie Kolden and Taylor Pickford. LCHS Spirit Prince and Princess are Alex Ayers and Chloe Falciani.
Post Falls’ homecoming will feature a parade for the first time in well over a decade. At 4 p.m. Friday the parade route will run from Real Life Ministries, up Cecil Street to Poleline, and then west Poleline to Prairie View Elementary School. A tailgate party with the PFHS Booster Club in the high school parking lot will follow the parade before kick off at 7 p.m.
Senior Class royalty for Post Falls are Kaytlyn Brenneman, Jeramie Evans, Myrisa Laufenberg, Dalton Fry, Mikayla Melchert, Camren Horn, Hailey Sessions, Nathan Walker, Jessica Zazuetta and Taegan Williams. Representing the junior, sophomore and freshman classes are Karabeth Schini, Nate Buer, Emily Banks, Payton Edmonds, Laney Smith and Colby Gennett.
Congratulations to all and here’s to a great night of football and friends!

The Old Pleasantview School on West Riverview Drive is a local treasure and twice a year when the Pleasantview Community Association holds a public breakfast, we love to attend. Not only is it a great breakfast, there are always old timers enjoying breakfast and conversation in the auditorium. For the past few decades I always meet someone who has a connection to the school through their family. The homemade biscuits, honey butter and jams are not to be missed.
The breakfast is a fundraiser for restoration and maintenance of the old school as a community center, which is a registered Idaho Historical Site and a registered National Historical Site. Breakfast served from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. 18724 W. Riverview Drive, 5 miles west of Post Falls, 4 miles east of Stateline.

Last chance today to buy a $50 raffle ticket with a better than 1-500 chance to win a $25,000 scholarship to use at North Idaho College, U of I or Lewis Clark State College. The winning ticket will be drawn at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce. While it would be great to win to give to your child or grandchild, if you’ve dreamed of going to college this would be a wonderful gift to yourself. Info: www.postfallschamber.com or 773-5016.
