Lake City High School’s Theatre Arts Department is preparing for its first show of the 2016-17 school year.

The school’s theater season opens at 7 p.m. Oct. 6 with a new comedy “Mutually Assured Destruction: 10 Plays About Brothers and Sisters” by Don Zolidis. Additional performances are scheduled for Oct. 7 and 8, also at 7 p.m.

The play is directed by LCHS Theatre Arts teacher Sandy Seaton.

A century’s worth of sibling squabbles is boiled down into 10 vignettes in this era-hopping tribute to family. Each short play explores a distinct facet of brother and sisterhood, from fights over who caused mom and dad to split (1985 — I’m Pretty Sure This Is Your Fault) to daring escape plots that only two sisters could pull off (1922 — Very Very Cold Feet).

“No matter the decade, audiences will see themselves in these 10 distinct shorts about the undeniable bond between siblings through the ages,” said the group’s announcement of the upcoming performance.

The show features the acting talents of Aubrey Bernard, Marisa Butler, Noah Coll, Noah Garrett, Sebastian Goetz, Katy Gribbin, Zuriah Irwin, Kyto Katori, Cheyenne Miller, Cidney Perkins and Evan Schwaab. The production team includes: Emma Bulkovitz (stage manager and prop design), Josh Weaver (assistant stage manager and choreographer), Samantha Moore (costume design), Brandon Miller (lighting design), Nicholas Hendrickson (sound design), and Serena Kaschmitter and Emily Torres (make-up and hair design).

Performances are in the Lake City High School auditorium, 6101 Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene. Tickets are on sale now at the school, at the front desk from Payge or at the box office one hour before curtain. All seats are $6 unless you hold a Lake City ASB card.
