Robert Floyd Weholt Jr., 59
1957 — 2017
Our beloved Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle, Nephew and Friend passed away peacefully March 14, 2017, with those that loved him by his side. He wasn’t another actor or rock star, however he was a class act and a star to the people that he mattered to. He was the first person to step up when anyone needed something and the first person to call when you needed an honest opinion. He was an intelligent man and knew a little about almost everything.
He was born in Lewiston, Idaho, on July 2, 1957. He grew up in Pierce, Idaho, as the youngest son of a Forest Service family. His family spent most of the year in Pierce, but summers were often spent in cabins where his father, Bob, supervised the summer crews. After his mother passed away, he decided to travel and visit friends across the country. Eventually he made his way home before moving to the Coeur d’Alene area where his brother Bill had settled.
He married Glenda Scott and together they had daughter Jessica and 14 short months later, son Tyler. After separating, Rob finally settled in the Spokane Valley where he had lived for the past 17 years. He began a career as a Pilot Car Driver for oversize loads, which took him all over the country. He loved traveling and soon became an expert of the area road systems and the heights of every low obstruction.
Rob fought a courageous battle against illnesses for 12 years. He was the strongest man that I have ever known; he took everything that he was faced with in his own hands and spent hours upon hours of researching anything and everything. He once said “You can’t trust anyone, you have to take the time to figure it out yourself.” He was right about this on numerous occasions. He was always there to help when you made a mistake, but only after telling you “I told you so!” May the legacy that he has left with those he loved live on through generations and generations to come. We love you Papa!
He is survived by his brother, Bill; Aunt Barb; his children, Jessica and Tyler; and his grandchildren, Damian, Logan, Gavin, Alayla and Sydney; and his newest granddaughter, Linneah, who he got to meet in Heaven as she was born just two weeks following his passing. As well as many nieces, nephews and friends that loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert, mother Glenda and brother Sam.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the VFW in Lewiston, with a potluck following. We welcome all that loved him to please join us in celebrating his life.
