Grinnell baseball

Hammond, a senior catcher from Post Falls High, hit .538 (7 for 13) with two home runs, two doubles and 11 runs batted in during the Pioneers’ (12-9) four-game sweep of Illinois College April 1-2. Hammond scored four runs and had a .632 on-base percentage, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage with 14 putouts in as many opportunities, and was named to the Division III Team of the Week for April 5.

Vanessa Shippy

Oklahoma State softball

Shippy, a junior catcher from Lake City High, hit a two-run home run for the Cowboys in a 3-2 loss to Tulsa on April 5 in Stillwater, Okla. Shippy drew a walk in the sixth inning, becoming the second Cowgirl (26-15, 6-0 Big 12) in program history with 100 or more in her career. Shippy is batting .408 (49 for 120) with 36 runs scored and five home runs.

Allison Meehan

Meehan, a graduate student from Post Falls High and North Idaho College, and No. 1 pairs partner Lyndi Scholl won three-set beach volleyball matches over Stanford and Cal last week. Meehan and Scholl defeated Mia Merlino/Jessica Gaffney 21-19, 21-23, 15-10 to clinch the Spartans’ 3-2 win over 18th-ranked Cal. Earlier in the week, Meehan/Scholl knocked off Stanford No. 1s Kathryn Plummer/Jenna Gray 21-16, 17-21, 17-15. Meehan and Scholl are 7-7 on the season. Meehan finished 11-9 last season playing No. 2 and No. 3 pairs with Jamie Hirai. San Jose State, which has faced five ranked opponents, is receiving votes in the latest AVCA Top 15 poll.

Kolby DeHaas

Loch Haven baseball

DeHaas, a junior first baseman/third baseman from Coeur d’Alene High, is currently hitting .375 on the season (30 for 79) with 11 doubles, one triple and three home runs. He has 15 runs batted in and has been hit by 11 pitches, which leads the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
