More to do

in Seattle

Several readers responded to information offered the past few weeks on the (cheap and handy) Rail Link trains in Seattle and things to see at the University of Washington.

So today we’ll offer more options for our closest major city.

In the north portion, visit the Ballard locks where water traffic (boats and sea critters) go from salt water to fresh. It includes a museum, underwater viewing windows to see the fish swim by and a small parking fee. Drive a bit northwest to Shilshole Bay to see beaches and tide pools.

Near the downtown waterfront, Pike Place Market is a must-see. Check the lower levels too, and the neighborhood has many food options. On the waterfront are more shops, restaurants with a view, the aquarium, the ferries and the affordable water taxis to West Seattle and its beaches and eateries.

Farther south, just uphill from the professional ball parks, is Chinatown with fascinating shops and great restaurants. And farther north are Seattle Center with the Space Needle and the zoo.

I’m certain I left out some key sites.

Now for the Tidbits

- Today is Easter, which is the first Sunday following the full moon that occurs on or after March 21. If the full moon falls on a Sunday, Easter is the next Sunday.

- Watch for information on new places including Cosmic Cowboy restaurant, a beauty salon at 724 E. Lakeside, the Post Falls Walmart gas station opening and Rustic Restaurant downtown.

- When something is new, under construction or almost open, someone needs to let us know.

- A reader emailed about new construction beside Anthony’s restaurant in Riverstone. It’s an extension of the parking lot. Thanks, though.

- Instead of being sexist and writing “a reporter tries to protect his sources,” write “reporters try to protect their sources.”

- Sign in a veterinarian’s waiting room: “Sit! Stay!”

- When you married Ms. Right, you didn’t know her first name was Always.
