Cardinal softball team wins 4 of 5 at NWAC crossover

RICHLAND, Wash. — Kennedy Anderson, Kayla Curtan and Nikki Miller each hit solo homers as North Idaho College defeated Wenatchee Valley 11-10 to wrap up play Sunday at a Northwest Athletic Conference crossover.

Natalie Schwab went 2 for 4 with three RBIs for NIC (25-8, 18-6 (NWAC).

Earlier Sunday, Treasure Valley outlasted NIC 19-12.

On Saturday, NIC pounded Big Bend 20-4 in five innings, then beat Columbia Basin 15-7 in six innings.

NIC returns to action May 5 with a doubleheader at Walla Walla.

NIC men, women

lead after first day

COVINGTON, Wash. — North Idaho College’s men’s and women’s golf teams both lead after the first day of a Northwest Athletic Conference league match hosted by Green River Community College.

NIC’s men, playing at Druids Glen Golf Course, lead by five shots over Bellevue. Cardinal Ross Gilbert is tied for third after shooting a 1-over-par 73.

NIC’s women, playing at Lake Wilderness Golf Course, lead by nine over Skagit Valley. Katie Fyall of the Cardinals shot a 10-over-par 80, and is in third place.

“The rain was pretty brutal today,” NIC men’s and women’s coach Russell Grove said.

The tourneys wrap up today, both at Washington National Golf Club.
