Kalispell Public Schools approve calendar

Kalispell Public Schools calendar for the 2017-18 school year has been approved by the school board.

A draft of the 2019-20 calendar was also approved.

In the 2017-18 school year, the first day of school for students will be Aug. 30 and the last day will be June 8, 2018.

A professional development day on Nov. 22 will precede Thanksgiving break Nov. 23-24 and there will be no school for students. Winter break begins Dec. 22 and goes through Jan. 2, 2018.

Students are also out of school on March 26, 2018, a professional development day, which kicks off spring break from March 27 through March 30. Discussions had been made about moving spring break into April, but the decision to continue scheduling it in March was planned around when the semester ends and spring sports schedules according to Tracy Scott, district director of human resources.

There will be no school for professional development on Oct. 19-20, Nov. 22 and in 2018, on Jan. 15 and March 26. Early-out days for students are also scheduled for professional development on Sept. 27, Oct. 25, Nov. 8, Dec. 15 and in 2018 on Jan. 19, Feb. 21, March 7, May 23 and June 8.

Sept. 27 — Early out, professional development

Oct. 19-20 — No school, professional development conference

Oct. 25 — Early out, professional development

Nov. 3 — No school for K-5 only, parent teacher conferences

Nov. 8 — Early out, professional development

Nov. 22 — No school, professional development

Nov. 23-24 — Thanksgiving break

Dec. 15 — Early out, professional development

Dec. 22, 2017 - Jan. 2, 2018 — No school, winter break

Jan. 15 — No school, professional development, Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Jan. 19 — Early out, professional development

Feb. 19 — No school, President’s Day, (snow make-up day)

Feb. 21 — Early out, professional development

March 7 — Early out, professional development

March 26 — No school, professional development

March 27-30 — No school, spring break

April 13 — No school

May 23 — Early release, professional development

May 28 — No school, Memorial Day

June 8 — Early out, last day of school

June 11-12 — Snow make-up days
