Cardinal men, women win at NWAC event

AUBURN, Wash. — Led by freshman Ross Gilbert, North Idaho College’s men won a Northwest Athletic Conference tournament hosted by Green River at Washington National Golf Club on Monday.
Gilbert, from Bozeman, Mont., shot a 1-under-par 143 over 36 holes for a two-stroke victory. The Cardinals won by seven shots over Bellevue.
NIC’s women also won the tourney, beating Skagit Valley by 15 strokes. Madi Brown, a freshman from Novato, Calif., led the Cardinals with a second-place finish at 162, two shots back of the winner. NIC’s Katie Fyall tied for third with a 165.
Community Colleges of Spokane is scheduled to host the next NWAC tournament, Saturday and Sunday at Liberty Lake and MeadowWood.
