ROYAL CITY — The Knights improved to 3-2 in 1A SCAC conference play and 8-2 overall with a 5-nil home win over the Bears Friday.
Royal jumped up top 2-0 at the break and never looked back.
“The boys scored some nice goals,” coach Jens Jensen said. “We were blinded by the sun and had the wind in our face but we were able to nose ahead on a wonderful goal from Abraham Medina who picked up the ball in the midfield and beat several defenders before blasting a rocket into the upper corner.”
Alex Contreras got the second goal of the first 45 minutes of action.
The second half saw the Knights get three goals past the Ki-Be keeper. Medina picked up his second goal of the fuss off a corner kick, Fernando Ortiz chested down a ball and Royal was up top 4-0. The final goal of the contest came off the foot of Juan Ojeda who used the wind to loop the goalkeeper from a free kick near the mid-field line.
Up next is a home match against the always-tough Warden Cougars.
