Spring means fashion - and fun

COEUR d’ALENE — It’s that time of year again, and members of the Cancer and Community Charities need your help for a great cause for the 19th straight year.
The group, better known as the 3Cs, will host its annual Spring Fashion Show on May 15 starting at 11:30 a.m. with a lunch to follow at The Coeur d’Alene Resort.
“Last year we donated $102,000,” 3Cs president Barbara Newland said. “And hopefully this year, we’ll get a little more.”
It is one of two major fundraisers by the group, aimed at helping a variety of nonprofit organizations in Kootenai County. Last year, the group donated to 29 different organizations in the county.
“It’s a luncheon and then the fashions are shown,” Newland said. “And we’ll have some entertainment with the Dancing Queens and we’ve got around 40 models. Some of them are our own members. We’ve got models of all shapes and sizes, and of all ages. It’s unique that way, I think.”
“When you see the fashions, you can think, ‘I can wear that,’” 3Cs publicity chairman Marcia Saunders said. “They’re not all size 2.”
There will also be a silent auction and Glitz and Glamour raffle, with prizes ranging from gift certificates from businesses participating in the event as well as an $800 gift certificate from the Hagadone Hospitality Group.
Tickets are $50 and available by contacting Bobbi Freeman at (208) 667-1479 or (509) 993-4567; $20 of your ticket price is tax deductible.
“We’ve still got tickets to sell,” Freeman said. “We’re hoping everyone comes and joins in the fun. There’s still a lot of good tables available.”
3Cs is an organization of women volunteers committed to raising funds to fight cancer and assist local charities. It was founded in 1962, formally established in 1975 and has been a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation since 1993.
More to the point, 3Cs has donated more than $2 million to local charities.
