Mission Valley tracksters standout at Seeley-Swan Invitational meet

The Charlo track team and the 2016 Class-C runner-up football team feature familiar names stacked at the top of various track categories.
Zane Haflinger, Toby Odom, Jared Doty, and Landers Smith captured first place in the 4X400 relay at the Seeley-Swan Invitational Saturday at Frenchtown High School.
The tandem captured first place out of 17 teams in the relay with a time of 3:38.29.
Garrett Vaughan, Odom, Doty, and Smith also placed third in the 4X100 with a time of 46.22 seconds.
The sophomore standout didn’t stop there. Smith captured first in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet exactly. Smith took first in the competition that featured over 30 competitors from various schools from across the region.
Smith also finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.36 seconds, a personal record. Another Vikings’ runner, Jared Doty, came in sixth with a time of 24.88.
Charlo’s distance runner, Wills Degrandpre, finished fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:57.43.
Several Lady Vikes PR in Seeley-Swan
Charlo Lady Viking Allie Delaney excelled in two events with top-five finishes in the highly competitive field.
Delaney finished third with a time of 50.99 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles and finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.81. Lady Vikes Kaitlin Cox finished 11th with a time of 18.05 seconds.
The Lady Vikes captured fifth in the 4X100 relay. The team comprised of Cox, Delaney, Destiny Manuel, and Tyrah Hammond turned in a time of 53.56.
The group also finished seventh in the 4X400 relay clocking in at 4:28.57.
Lady Viking Taylor McCready finished fifth in the pole vault with a jump of 8 feet.
Manuel PRed in the triple jump, leaping 30 feet, 6.50 inches and finished in ninth place in a large pool.
Scarlets shine in Frenchtown
The Arlee Scarlets track team had a few outstanding individual efforts at the Seeley-Swan Invitational Saturday at Frenchtown High School.
Ashley Revis placed fifth in the 100-meters with a time of 13.56 seconds.
Natalie Yocum finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 2:28.41.
Yocum also finished third in the 1,600 with a time of 5:38.03.
In the high jump, Mikayla Rieken finished sixth. Yocum and Bryndle Goyins finished seventh. Rieken had a jump of 4 feet, 10 inches and Yocum and Goyings both leaped 4 feet, 8 inches.
Scarlet Shawtaya Nelson finished sixth in the pole vault clearing 7 feet, 6 inches.
Thomas Knoll also finished fourth in pole vault. Knoll cleared 11 feet.
Arlee’s relay team captured fifth in the 4X400 with a time of 4:46.68.
Scarlet Peyton Lammerding finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, 10.50 inches.
