VANTAGE — A semi-truck driver from Mattawa was cited for speeding too fast for conditions after his trailer overturned near the Vantage Bridge on Thursday.
About 11:55 a.m. Regan Calaway, 19, of Mattawa, was driving a 2002 Freightliner tractor and trailer west on Interstate 90, about one mile east of Vantage, when he reportedly entered the curve before the Vantage Bridge. The trailer reportedly overturned, spilling hay bales into the eastbound and westbound I-90 lanes. A Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Dylan Romine, 23, of Cody, Wyo., reportedly collided with a hale bale in the eastbound I-90 lane, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Romine and his passengers, Penny Romine, 52, and Sarah Younger, 20, both of Cody, Wyo., were injured and transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment. Regan was not injured.
I-90 was closed in both directions for several hours. The Washington Department of Transportation opened one lane in each direction about 1:30 p.m. The patrol reports Regan was cited for speeding too fast for conditions.
