MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake woman who was found half-naked outside of a Genie Industries building after ramming her way onto Port of Moses Lake property received a 90-day sentence this week.

Crystal Sullivan, 29, of Moses Lake, pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree malicious mischief. Following a joint recommendation between Chief Deputy Prosecutor Alan White and defense attorney Brian Gwinn, Grant County Superior Court Judge David Estudillo sentenced Sullivan under a first-time offender waiver and imposed 90 days of jail confinement, 69 days of which she is permitted to serve via electronic home monitoring.

In early October Sullivan was able to make her way onto Port of Moses Lake property by driving through a gate at 22nd Avenue Northeast and Andrews Drive Northeast in a 2004 Toyota pickup truck.

Sullivan continued driving onto the airstrip and went through a fence at the U.S. Forest Service’s firefighting air tanker base building. She was able to get into the building by breaking a small window with a metal rod. Once inside she broke a couple of thermostats, “messed with” a fire alarm and cut several wires in the building, according to court documents.

She left the building and hopped back into her truck and started heading northwest before plowing through another fence at Genie Industries. She was able to drive into the Genie building and ditched the truck and stole a Genie-owned golf cart. When she was contacted by Genie employees she was half-naked and given overalls and a sweatshirt to cover up and keep warm until deputies arrives. She claimed she was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“Crystal stated she was fully aware of what was going on. Crystal stated she ran from a man trying to detonate a bomb. I asked Crystal to confirm her last statement. Crystal stated there was a man who had bombs inside a building and was trying to set them off,” wrote a deputy.

Sullivan went on to admit breaking a window in the air tanker base building.

“Crystal stated she had some residue from the bomb get on her clothing, which is why she removed her clothing. Crystal stated she ran out of the building into her car and ended up here (Genie Industries). Crystal stated she knew how crazy everything sounded, but was telling me the truth.”

Sullivan will be required to pay $4,647.64 in restitution to the Moses Lake Air Tanker Base and $3,694.58 in restitution to the Port of Moses Lake.
