Handcrafted art, live entertainment, delicious food and crafts for the kids makes this so much more than just the most unique shopping experience on the beach. Yes, it’s the 45th annual Arts & Crafts Fair sponsored by the Pend Oreille Arts Council. This event has something for everyone! Come to City Beach on Saturday, Aug. 12 and Sunday, Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days and let us prove it to you.

Added to those artists and crafters from all over the western United States who’ve participated in the past, this year, POAC will welcome 30 new vendors have been chosen by jury to join in. Works will include painting, photography, pottery, fiber, jewelry, glass, woodwork, metal and multi-media.

And, new this year is a free shuttle to take you to the beach. Look for the balloons at Fifth and Church and at Third and Oak to be picked up by a big yellow school bus. The shuttle will run every half hour during fair hours.

Find that hard-to-find but perfect item for your home and garden, such as handcrafted wooden benches or metal garden gates and structures. Browse the aisles in search of that perfect ring, necklace or earrings crafted from the finest metals and stones. Glass art, wearable fiber art and hand-thrown ceramics will also be on show and for sale. Enjoy photography, fine oils and acrylic works from some of the region’s top, award-winning artists.

This is a family-friendly event. POAC volunteers will be on hand in the Kaleidoscope Kids Booth to help children under 12 create delightful art projects and have their faces painted while adults are strolling around the show.

Entertainment by local and regional musicians and performance artists will last throughout the weekend, and is generously sponsored by Eichardt’s Pub. Plus, several food vendors will be on site to provide tasty picnic fare.

All proceeds from this event benefit Pend Oreille Arts Council’s year-round visual and performing arts activities and educational programs in the community. For additional information, contact POAC at 208-263-6139 or visit www.artinsandpoint.org.
