GEORGE — Speed reportedly played a role in a single-vehicle collision near George Thursday evening that left four people injured.

About 6:10 p.m. Mark Johnson, 40, of Gig Harbor, was driving a 2015 GMC Yukon with a 1999 Nash travel trailer west on Interstate 90, about 7 miles west of George. It’s when the trailer allegedly started to swing back and forth. Johnson reportedly lost control of the Yukon and left the interstate to the left. The trailer became detached from the Yukon, with both vehicles rolling and coming to a rest in the median, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Johnson and his passengers, Nerice Johnson, 40, of Gig Harbor, a 9-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, were injured and transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center by ambulance for treatment. The Yukon was totaled and impounded. The patrol reports the cause of the collision was Johnson speeding too fast. Johnson was cited for second-degree negligent driving.
