A Polson man is facing felony charges following allegations that he impersonated a member of the U.S. Coast Guard while on Flathead Lake.
According to a press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan Lowden, 33, was charged with three felony counts of impersonating a public official.
People reported a man on a Jet Ski claiming to be a member of the Coast Guard, trying to either gain access or confiscate alcohol from boats, according to a Facebook post from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office earlier in August.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives conducted an investigation after obtaining a search warrant at Lowden’s residence. Coast Guard clothing, similar to what witnesses reported to authorities, was allegedly located during the search.
Lowden is scheduled to appear at Lake County Justice Court on Wednesday, Aug. 16 for an initial appearance.
