'Traditions of Christmas' seeks cast members
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 7 years, 5 months AGO
“Traditions of Christmas” will mark its sixth annual appearance in Coeur d’Alene this holiday season. The Radio City Music Hall-style show is looking to cast 50 local singers between age 8 and 80.
Throughout the holiday show, Christmas classics are brought to life with song and dance with choreographed kickline tap numbers and a journey to Santa’s workshop. A USO-style performance honors the nation’s military, and concludes with a nativity. It plays at the Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene from Dec. 8-23. Tickets are on sale now.
“Traditions of Christmas” is produced by Laura Little Theatricals. Little is the Broadway co-producer of the Tony Award-winning “Peter and the Starcatcher,” “Come From Away” (currently on Broadway) and “First Date” starring Zak Levi.
Little said she is excited about the opportunity “Traditions of Christmas” provides to the local talent that may not have the time for the normal rehearsal schedule associated with other productions. Most roles in rehearse once a week.
The show is in need of children, teens and adults with varying levels of abilities. Auditions will be held Aug. 27 and 28 at Expressions School of Dance, 2825 N. Highway 41, Post Falls. Rehearsals will begin mid- to- late September for most.
Adult and teen vocalists are also needed. No dancing is required for these roles and they will also rehearse on Monday nights.
Also needed are children between age 8 and 12. These roles require strong singing and dance skills and they rehearse on Monday evenings in the fall.
There are several specialty roles available for adults and teens that require both dance and singing ability. The age range for these parts is approximately 17 to 32 and rehearsals are two times a week, Sunday and Tuesday evenings.
Although audition dates are Aug. 27 and 28, if someone is interested in being part of the show and unavailable for the scheduled audition date or time, please contact the organization for an alternate date.
Little said they are also looking for backstage help and seamstresses.
“While the 400-plus costumes have been created, we need some local sewers to help with fittings alterations,” Little said.
