The City of Kellogg’s Sewer Rehabilitation and Replacement Project continues. Before providing the usual update I would like to say thanks to all the construction crews who are doing the heavy lifting on our behalf. Construction work is difficult enough without adding week after week of high 90’s and 100 degree temperatures. So if you get a chance, please thank them for all their hard work.

The first round of paving and patching associated with Phase II of the project is now complete. A required plan change in the area between Mission and West Riverside Avenues delayed paving in this same general area. One mainline crew continues to work on Cameron Avenue east of Hill Street; when done, they will proceed south off Cameron Avenue on Hill Street. They will then return to Cameron Avenue and install water line east of Hill Street. A second mainline crew will be working on Chestnut Street moving towards Mission Avenue. Work will then occur on Rose Street and on Chestnut Street north of Mission Avenue. Work will then again proceed East along Mission Avenue.

The roadway between Chestnut Street and Hill Street will be graded to accommodate the business district and visitors attending the All-Class Reunion. Everyone is asked to obey road closure signs and to drive slowly through construction zones. Again, we are thankful for everyone’s patience as work continues.

Work on Phase III of the project is now underway. Crews are working on the west end of McKinley Avenue and are proceeding East. The road in this area is closed. Construction will proceed in two hundred foot increments towards the residential area. The traffic control plan will be updated as work moves closer to residences. Again, we are asking that everyone please obey road closure signs and to drive slowly as you move through areas impacted by construction.

McKinley Avenue will be open this weekend to accommodate the All-Class Reunion. The road will be graded and equipment will be moved off of the roadway to help improve traffic flow in this area. Please drive accordingly.

Anyone needing special assistance related to the project or who may have questions or concerns may contact Mr. Lewis, Superintendent of Public Works at (208) 786-9131. On weekends, holidays or after work hours you may contact Mr. Lewis by calling the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Dispatch at (208) 556-1114 and ask that they contact him for you.

Remember, the Kellogg City Pool is open to children free of charge while the sewer project is underway. The pool and City Park provide a safe and well maintained area for children to spend their summer days.
