Trail Hootenanny set for Aug. 25

As new trails for the Whitefish Trail near completion in Haskill Basin, the Whitefish Legacy Partners is celebrating with it annual Hootenanny event on Friday, Aug. 25.
The Hootenanny is set for Depot Park downtown from 5-9 p.m. and is open for all ages. The annual music festival and family dance party features the Ghost of Paul Revere, Jeff Crosby and the Refugees and Milltown Damn.
Kid’s activities include a bike obstacle course, climbing wall, jump stations and more. Food trucks and local craft beer will be available for purchase.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate, with kids 12 and under free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.montanatickets.com or at the Great Northern Brewery, Glacier Cyclery, Sportsman & Ski Haus Whitefish, and Great Northern Cycle and Ski.
The fundraising event is made possible by sponsors Don K Subaru, First Interstate Bank, National Parks Realty, Edward Jones Financial Advisor- Claudine Johnson, and BNSF. Great Northern Bar & Grill and Craggy Range Bar & Grill are sponsoring the music, while Alaska Airlines, Sportsman & Ski Haus, Great Northern Cycle & Ski, and many Whitefish businesses have donated raffle prizes. Great Northern Brewery is providing the beer.
The party continues after the Hootenanny with premier music sponsor Great Northern Bar & Grill presenting Jeff Crosby followed by the Ghost of Paul Revere, and Milltown Damn taking the stage at music sponsor Craggy Range Bar & Grill. An additional cover may apply.
Whitefish Legacy Partners also continues its plans for the Close the Loop campaign to connect the Whitefish Trail around Whitefish Lake.
The Whitefish Trail is the anchor project of Whitefish Legacy Partners, a nonprofit organization, and the result of collaborative partnerships providing public access and recreation while protecting clean water, thriving forests and prime wildlife habitat on open lands in the urban interface of Whitefish.
The Whitefish Trail is currently 36 miles accessed by 10 trailheads with 5.5 more miles and two new trailheads opening fall 2017.
