Come play as region's actors shine on the stage

SANDPOINT — Theater lovers, your time has come! This weekend is chock-full of plays that run from Friday right on through Sunday night.
Starting backwards, Lost Horse Press once again brings Shakespeare to Sandpoint on Sunday, when the Montana Shakespeare in the Parks acting company performs ‘Macbeth’ at the Bonner County Fairgrounds — and it’s free! Two locally written and acted plays open Friday night, with ‘Secret Shame’ at the Heartwood Center and a dessert theater show of ‘Jingle’ at the Panida Little Theater.
As always, there’s more live music than you could possibly ever hope to take in — but it’s sure fun trying.

Thursday, Aug. 17
‘Neither Wolf Nor Dog’
Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7:30 p.m.
A road movie through the heart of Lakota Country adapted from the award-winning novel of the same name by Kent Nerburn.

Bright Moments with Maya Goldblum
Venue: Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters, 524 Church St., in Sandpoint.
Time: 4-7 p.m.
Maya’s in town with her one-of-a-kind vocal sound and Evans Brothers Coffee is the place to be for the music.
Admission: Free and open to the public.
The Teccas
Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.
Time: 6 p.m.
The Teccas are made up of Scott and Kayla, a father daughter duo, with a country and rock sound. Known as a rocking duo with an original twist.
Admission: Free for those 21 and over.
Friday, Aug. 18
‘Jingle’
Venue: Panida Little Theater, 304 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7 p.m.
In this light-hearted comedy produced by Panida Playhouse and Com Tech, Inc., Jodie goes home to Gram’s house for the summer and needs to rely on the assistance of her new friend when Grams goes missing. This 12-year-old sleuth’s search to answer lots of shadowy questions will keep you in stitches.
Additional performances on Aug. 19, 24, 25 and 26.

‘Secret Shame’
Venue: Heartwood Center, 615 Oak St., in Sandpoint.
Time: Doors open at 7 p.m., play starts at 7:30 p.m. — Fri, Aug. 18
You are cordially invited as the Unknown Locals mount a new play written by Chris Herron and directed by Madeline Elliott. The performance includes local actors Kate McAlister, Dorothy Prophet, Eric Bond, Nicole Burato, Jeremiah Campbell and Alex Cope.
Additional performances on Aug. 19, 25 and 26.

Alexa Wildish plays Customer Appreciation Night
Venue: DiLuna’s Cafe, 207 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.
Time: Door open at 6 p.m., music starts at 7:30 p.m.
Alexa Wildish a progressive folk musician from Boulder, Colo., will be performing from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Food and drink specials.

Scotia Road
Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7 p.m.
Newport’s Scotia Road is coming to Sandpoint for a fun show at the Beer Hall! This four-piece family band is made up of guitar, mandolin & upright bass mingle with the calming vocals & harmonies of the mother-daughter duo.

Saturday, Aug. 19
Two Tracks
Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 6:30 p.m.
The sound of this Wyoming-based four-piece band borrows from country, rock, and bluegrass traditions for an Americana experience. Opening the show will be Moonshine Mountain.

Brother Music Delta Slide Show
Venue: Lakeshore Realty North, 116 N. First Ave. (between Starbucks and Pita Pit on the deck behind the building), in Sandpoint.

Sandpoint’s renowned bluesman, Brother Music shares his prowess on slide guitar and his incredibly deep knowledge of the Delta Blues in this cool concert opportunity! Highly recommended.

Brian Jacobs
Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Brian Jacobs brings an eclectic, acoustic sound. His music style encompasses Folk, Rock and Soul.

Sunday, Aug. 20
‘Macbeth’
Venue: Bonner County Fairgrounds, 4203 N. Boyer Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: Gates open at 3 p.m. with afternoon entertainment, play starts at 6 p.m.
Shakespeare in Sandpoint and Montana Shakespeare in the Parks present this performance of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth.’
Arrive early with chairs, blankets, and picnics. Entertainments of a medieval flavor await you. The Youth Theater Program acting students from the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint will perform vignettes from ‘Hansel & Gretel’ and Oscar Wilde’s ‘An Ideal Husband’ as the opening act for ‘Macbeth.’
Also performing throughout the afternoon before the main play will be Devotion Tribal Belly Dance of North Idaho — a dance troupe that celebrates the Aurora-like fluidity and beauty of the dance and teaches classes and workshops in Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry.
This event is hosted by Lost Horse Press, an independent, non-profit poetry press.
