Thanks to a donation in memory of a former cancer patient, Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in June was able to start a new project in its chemotherapy and infusion department.

When Frank Votapka purchased a rifle during the medical center’s Foundation’s Festival Gala gun raffle, he asked that donations from the raffle be given to the department in memory of his late wife, Jenny Votapka, a news release states.

“Jenny Votapka battled cancer for several years, and spent a great deal of time at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center during her fight,” the news release states.

In her memory, the “Spreading Joy for Jenny!” project was started to brighten the day of patients undergoing chemotherapy and infusion.

“Each patient is greeted with a flower and is entered into a drawing for a gift card to a local Libby business,” the news release states. “A new winner is chosen bi-weekly.”
