MOSCOW — The University of Idaho football team concluded its 2017 fall camp Saturday, with a scrimmage in the Kibbie Dome.
The Vandals took the field for nearly three hours, running more than 200 plays in their final extended live tuneup before the Aug. 31 season opener at home against Sacramento State at 6 p.m.
“There were a lot of good things,” Idaho coach Paul Petrino said. “The offense looked really sharp in the red zone, but hurt themselves on some drives turning the ball over. The defense did a great job of causing those turnovers though. A lot of times some of the guys on defense covered better than they have, which is very positive, and the defensive front has been playing well all camp.”
After spending much of the last three weeks putting in full days of practice and preparation, the Vandals will take two days off to get back into their in-season routine with classes starting Monday. The team will also transition from battling each other to getting ready to line up against someone else.
“Now it’s time to come together,” Petrino said. “We’ve being going against each other, going at each other, and now we need to come together and get ready for the opener. It’s time to starting working toward that.”
