Chinatown takes over Dragon House location

Fresh house-made Chinese food is the specialty of the new Chinatown Restaurant opening at 512 W. Appleway (in the former Dragon House location).
Open 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily, the extensive menu includes appetizers, luncheons, soups, 63 meat and vegetarian choices, desserts, family dinners and kids’ meals. The renovated interior has seating for 96 and party and business seating with take-out and delivery available.
The Guan family (Michael, Chris and Stan) and Jackie Lee, manager, started a Chinatown Restaurant in Kalispell, Mont., in 1997. Phone is 208-666-6288. Check www.chinatowncda.com.
Philly Express opens
on Northwest Blvd.
Cheesesteaks are the specialty of Philly Express that opened this past week in the former Subway space at 1500 Northwest Blvd. The menu includes salads, burgers, hot dogs, sausages and vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Owners Ron and Tracey Nelson also have a place in the Silver Lake Mall food court and are in the Saturday Farmers’ Market, “Live After Five” Wednesday evenings in McEuen Park and other public gatherings.

Hollywood Revolver
opens off Seltice Way
Offering a full bar, special attractions and grilled food to come, the Hollywood Revolver has opened in the former Grail location off Seltice Way.
The food includes grilled house-made items. The special attractions include bar-dancing females, a mechanical riding bull, pool tables, music and a dancing area.
Hours are noon to 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday. While Seltice is being reconstructed, take the Huetter Road exit to the south and then go east.
Aspen Dental opens
on Ironwood Drive
A new location for Aspen Dental is at 223 Ironwood Drive in the northeast corner with Highway 95.
Emergencies and walk-ins are welcome along with all insurance plans and denture guarantees. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays by appointment.

Now for the Tidbits
- Future new hotels include a Staybridge Suites in Riverstone and a Fairfield Inn on Northwest Boulevard. The Shilo Inn on Appleway will change to Comfort Suites after a major remodel. Starting construction next spring, the Staybridge between McDonalds and Starbucks will have 96 suites on five floors and an indoor pool. Starting construction this year where the Garden Motel was, the Fairfield Inn by Marriott will be four stories high.
- Gizmo-CDA will be moving from Fourth Street to North Idaho College. Openings coming on Fourth Street include a Local Real Estate office, the Relic Moon offering piercing and body jewelry and the White Pine coffee place. Highland Dance Studio, The Nail Lounge, Encore Shoes and a Solutions People call center are coming to Silver Lake Mall.
- Post Falls openings in the next weeks include Popeye’s and Riverstone Dental Care. Fast Cash 4 Cards and Massage Envy businesses will be in Ironwood Square. A new Asian eatery will be where the Kynrede Cafe was removed in Hayden. Watch for El Taco Loco off Canfield Avenue, EyeGuys Optical in Hayden, Rumour Boutique expanding on Government Way and Vine & Olive in Riverstone.
- On Appleway watch for Firehouse Subs and Dairy Queen. Fuel Fitness & Nutrition has a new building at Haycraft and Government Way, and J.E. Design-Build, Northwest Insurance Associates, Shine Salon and Surf My Ad software company are in a new building at 724 E. Lakeside. J.A. Bertsch Heating & Air will move from Hayden Avenue to Government Way. And Hayden Lake Physical Therapy will be on Prairie Avenue.
- The west-bound vehicle aquatic check stand on Interstate 90 doesn’t miss the watercraft that heads south on Highway 3 a mile earlier because another station is a few miles down at Rose Lake. Both, however, miss the watercraft going up the CdA River. One station neat Kingston could hit it all.
- Ah. A widening of Post Falls’ Spokane Street north of Poleline will occur in the future.
- AT&T fired its president, John Walter, after nine months and said he lacked intellectual leadership. He got a $26 million severance package. A smart amount.
- Sign in a radiator shop: “Best place in town to take a leak.”
- A good photo of the eclipse may be with water in the foreground for a reflection and the eclipse. But watch your eyes and lenses.
