SANDPOINT — The cityis hosting a public open house at War Memorial Field and the newly constructed Barlow Stadium today from noon-3 p.m.

While the new stadium was opened for seating during the Festival at Sandpoint, this will be the first time the public gets to see the locker rooms and other areas underneath the seating in the new stadium, city officials said.

Construction of the new stadium was started September 2017, and final touches will be completed September 2018. Discussion on turf replacement options will also begin this September. Under consideration is natural turf, artificial turf and a hybrid option.

Construction of the new Barlow Stadium, gateway and turf is supported by a local option sales tax approved by city of Sandpoint residents in November 2015. It is a five-year tax that will sunset Dec. 31, 2020.
