SOAP LAKE — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Soap Lake over the weekend.

About 1:30 p.m. on Saturday Vitaliy Motso, 18, of Federal Way, was stopped at a stop sign on state Route 17, in Soap Lake city limits, in a 2004 Honda Civic when he reportedly failed to yield to a 2009 GMC Sierra driven by Sheldon Kosa, 21, of Ephrata, that was heading west on state Route 28. The GMC struck the Civic and came to a rest blocking the westbound SR-28 lane. The Civic came to a rest blocking the northbound SR-17 lane, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Motso’s passengers, Lyudmila Sharak, 22, of Kent, and two 16-year-old girls from Kent, were injured and transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake for treatment. Motso and Kosa were not injured.

The patrol reports Motso was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way.
