Fire damages Post Falls home

POST FALLS — A fire believed to have been caused by improperly discarded smoking material caused an estimated $200,000 in damages to a Post Falls home and the contents on Sunday night.

There were no injuries during the fire at 4275 W. Periwinkle Lane that was reported at 9:04 p.m., according to a Kootenai County Fire and Rescue press release.

Firefighters limited the damage to the deck and the kitchen and dining area.

The fire displaced the residents, who have a place to stay in the interim. The home is insured.

Crews from Coeur d'Alene, Northern Lakes and Hauser Lake assisted KCFR during the incident.
