Post Falls PD hosts two free events

The Post Falls Police Department is hosting its seventh annual Cops-n-Kids and Rodders-n-More Open House on Saturday, Aug. 26.

The event will take place at the Post Falls Police Department, 1717 E. Polston Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A variety of events are scheduled throughout the day including a K-9 demonstration by the Post Falls Police Department, police robot demonstration, tours of the facilities, and at noon a tribute to first responders that includes a short parade of emergency vehicles through the show grounds.

Ronald McDonald will be on hand to perform a magic show. A local DJ will provide music. There will also be informational presentations about the Volunteers in Police Service program; Victim Services unit; Block Watch Programs; communications; 911 operators and school resource officers and programs.

The Open House offers a range of activities for all ages: the car show, which includes Kid’s Choice votes for their favorite vehicle, department and 911 Center tours, fingerprinting, a bounce house and an obstacle course sponsored by the National Guard. There will be special goodies for kids.

Car show registration will open at 9 a.m. Vintage and classic cars, trucks, street rods, rat rods, and both retired and in-service emergency vehicles are invited to attend. Awards for individual winning car owners as well as car clubs will be presented during the awards presentation. A Best of Show trophy awaits the most popular vehicle. To enter the car show, registration is $15 and a donation of a nonperishable food item on the day of the show. The Emergency Vehicle Owners and Operators Association will again manage and sponsor the food drive.

The event is open to the general public and free of charge.
