MOSES LAKE — Visitors to the Herald’s Facebook page shared a nice variety of photos from this week’s solar eclipse that stopped people in their tracks throughout the Columbia Basin and backed up traffic in Oregon. Images of the darkened sun, a child holding up a welding mask, and a man enjoying a boat ride were just a few of the images gracing the Herald’s Social Media channels.

A live video stream of the eclipse taped from the roof of the Herald in Moses Lake appeared on the daily Herald and weekly Sun Tribune’s respective Facebook pages. The Herald’s digital sales manager Lucas Clark shot and narrated the video, which received a combined total of 90 shares, 7,117 views and 151 likes on both papers’ pages.

The event brought people together, either at organized events in homes and public places, or online, sharing photos and video. People weren’t limited by time or distance with today’s technology, as a photo from Nashville was even posted to the Herald’s page.
