Robert LeRoy Evans Sr., 76

Robert LeRoy Evans Sr., 76, went home to be with the LORD on Aug. 11, 2017. Born in Seattle and raised in Kent, Wash., he came to live in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1985 after a requested transfer as the Postmaster with the United States Postal Service was granted.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geri; daughters Susan, Alice, Kathy, Tana and Rona; and sons Phillip and John. He will be greeted in heaven by his mother, Millie; father Ralph; brother Sonny; son Bobby; daughter Charlotte; grandson Jake; niece Lynn; niece in-law Terry; along with so many other family members and friends who had passed before him.

What a beautifully caring man! He met Geri in 1963, while he was in beauty school and they became inseparable. Geri was a single mother with children from a prior marriage, but he didn’t care, he saw a beautiful woman he quickly fell in love with and asked her to be his “until death do us part” wife and she accepted!

He was a father to nine, a Papa to 20 and Big Papa to, “you’ll have to ask mom, she knows, there’s too many to count …” he would say. Family was the most important to him, from beginning to the end. He made sure we were loved and provided for, truly defying odds with the finances we had given nine children. His second love was the friends he amassed who shared a love for hard work, old cars and each other. They shared many years together collecting and selling old cars and sharing wonderful friendships. He will be greatly missed!
