MOSES LAKE — A packed house at the Moses Lake Demo Derby was treated to roughly five hours of action on the Grant County Fairgrounds Wednesday evening, Aug. 16.

Michael Koon, in the No. 117 car, was the last man standing in the event that ushered in the 74th annual Moses Lake Roundup.

Several locals fared well on the night including Josiah Guerra and Ty Yamane who placed first and second in Heat Race No. 7.

Powder Puff winners were Ashley Hector, Cindy Teeter, Tamie Burleson and Brandi Gray.

FFA judging teams among the best at Central Washington State Fair

YAKIMA — The Othello High School FFA judging team brought home several top honors from the Central Washington State Fair held in Yakima Sept. 26. Among them were a first place banner in Class 6 Livestock, and a second place finish by Alyson Shade who beat out all but one of 300 competitors from 61 high schools in the individual dairy judging. Sarah Wilson placed eighth in horse judging.

Annual Jog-a-Thon raises money for a good cause

The Othello PTA held its annual Jog-a-Thon fundraiser at Lutacaga Elementary Friday, Oct. 13. Kindergarten through fifth grade students were scheduled to run laps outside of the school, but the event was moved into the gymnasium because the weather on Thursday left too much moisture on the grass for the kids to run through.
