Plenty of summer, entertainment left to be had

SANDPOINT – August fun is rounding the clubhouse turn, but there’s plenty of summer left and lots to do.
Our local thespians are still hard at work with two separate plays going on at the Panida Little Theater and the Heartwood Center. Friday has loads of action, including a Chris Webster and Nina Gerber concert at DiLuna’s Café and a free movie in the park next door to the museum.
On Saturday morning, Bridges Home plays the Farmer’s Market and that evening, there’s a presentation on the monumental climb of Alaska’s Mount Huntington at the Panida.
Plus a film on the Panida’s big screen, an end of summer dance at City Beach and so much more:
Thursday, Aug. 24
‘Jingle’
Venue: Panida Little Theater, 304 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7 p.m.
In this light-hearted comedy produced by Panida Playhouse and Com Tech, Inc., Jodie goes home to Gram’s house for the summer and needs to rely on the assistance of her new friend when Grams goes missing.
Additional performances on Aug. 25 and 26.

‘The Hero’
Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Sam Elliott plays aging actor Lee Hayden. A veteran actor forced to come to terms with what he’s given up for an industry that seems to have forgotten him.

Wyatt Wood

With more than 15 years of music experience and an education in Music Production, Wyatt is doing what he knows best, playing tunes for fans.

Free Movie in the Park

Join your friends in the park next to the museum for a free showing of the kids’ movie, ‘Trolls.’ What an awesome way to hang with fun people on a summer’s evening!

Gotta put a big plug in for this one, since we hardly ever get to play for our hometown friends and look forward to this sweet event every summer. There’s nothing like live music floating through the air as you stroll through our magical farmer’s market.

‘Alaska’s Mt. Huntington’
Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7 p.m.
Enjoy a night of stories, pictures and videos from Clint Helander and Jess Roskelley’s monumental climb of Alaska’s Mount Huntington. Over eight days in April 2017, the duo completed one of the biggest first ascents in North America in recent history. This presentation will feature an intro by John Roskelley, one of the world’s most renowned climbers.

‘End of Summer’ Social Dance
Venue: Sandpoint City Beach basketball court, in Sandpoint.
Time: Potluck at 5 p.m., followed by general dancing until 9 p.m.
Bring a potluck dish to share and a lawn chair if you wish to sit. Wear comfortable shoes, as the dancing will be on concrete. Singles, couples and all levels of dancers are welcome.
